So, you don’t like, share or comments to my socisl media posts, and never click on the links lead to my articles (a.k.a. the product I promote on social media, the reason why I use social media), but instantly unfollow me after not sharing anythig in two days?
Oh, yes, yeas, of corue, it makes sense.
Except, that it doesn’t.
Anyway. Why am I doing this? Well, it’s an easy answer. Because my stupid, too-rational-thinking, autistic brain desperately tries to find the logic in human behaviour.
I desperately try to understand why I have almost 10 k followers (more than 7k on Instagram and almost 3k in X) who don’t care what I’m sharing, therefore I din’t know why they’re following me if not for the content I provide. (Oh, yeah, important, they are real followers, real people. I didn’t buy any follower)
Why are they following me,
if not for the content I share?
And how could I find that kind of followers who would interact with the content I share?
But don’t be mistaken. The question in the headline of this post is not about me. It is still about the behaviour I described in the first paragraph.
Anyway, this xtory demonstrated quite well, why I, normally, keep distance from social media. It’s harmful for my autistic brain that always want to go to the core of problems and fix it. There is nothing to fix with social media, it’s just chaotic and unreasonable. It was great 15 years ago, it was a great new marketing asset. You coud find easier your target audince than ever before.
But now…
Is there still a so-called target audience, anyway?
I mean, there is, there must be somewhere out there, because I still know what kindif followers I wish for my project. People, who like road cycling history and would like to read about it frequently. Also, people who are open to unique perspectives….
Oh, wait… that might be the problem. Social media creates bubbles. People don’t follow you because you think differently about the topic they like, but because they need the illusion of everyone (everyone in their bubble) think the same way.
But then, again, the problem: if they realise that my porject isnot what theywant, or how they want to receive, why don’t they just unfollow me?
Why are giving me the illusion that the amount of people following my peojects is significant. That I can build something real on it.
Because it’s just simply not true.
